Changes Coming Soon

Posted on: October 8th, 2012 by Jim No Comments

Wow…I’ve let the dust get about an inch thick on my blog, with the last post being over a year ago.  Fear not! A fresh look and a website that I plan on updating on a more regular basis are on the way before the end of the year.

Thanks to flickr user emilykneeter for the photo.

Here’s a quick update to let everyone know that I have joined on to begin contributing to the local photoblog Greenville Daily Photo. The authors of the blog, Denton and Connie, have been regularly been posting photos since 2005 to document living in the downtown area. Now that work has them relocating to Charlotte, several other local photographers will be contributing to keep things running. I always enjoyed documenting campus life for The Tiger Newspaper when I was a student at Clemson and I have to say that I’m pretty excited to have an ongoing commitment to shooting this style of photography again.

My first shots will start rolling through in the next couple days, so head over to Greenville Daily Photo to check them out and be sure to bookmark the site or subscribe to the RSS feed so you can be sure to see the latest pictures of our awesome city!

Website Launch: 2ndShoot.com

Posted on: June 13th, 2011 by Jim No Comments

I’m excited to announce that 2ndShoot.com, a collaborative effort between Charles Bordner (also known as The Storyteller), Ben Moffett, and myself, is officially out in the wild. 2ndShoot is a directory-style website for aspiring photographers (or photographers looking to fill open dates and/or make a little extra cash) to find second shooting* gigs with professional photographers. The profile listings for the second shooters are broken out by state, so someone shooting a wedding here in Greenville, South Carolina can find an assistant that is local (saving the professional on paying travel costs for an assistant and gaining someone that is familiar with the area).

My role in the project was primarily in WordPress development and in getting all of the moving pieces to play nice with one another. Second shooters are able to register for the site, create a profile with some information about themselves and their photographic style and upload portfolio images. We’ve also got several big name sponsors on the site that are planning on giving away free merchandise and services to registered users.

Check out 2ndshoot.com for yourself.

*In the photography world, a photographer’s assistant is called a second shooter.

Welcome to my new website! After spending the past several years working with an in-house marketing department and then at an advertising agency, I have decided to take the leap into full-time freelancing. I encourage you to view my web design, graphic design and photography portfolios. If you are looking to learn more about me, you can read up on my background and experience here. If you are interested in hiring me for creative services, fill out the short quote request form and I will respond to you as soon as possible.

In this area of the website, I hope to facilitate regular conversations with visitors and clients on a variety of topics relating to the services I provide and of local/community interest. I encourage you to subscribe to my RSS feed to keep up with my latest news and posts. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for exciting things to come!
